What This Opportunity Offers
With a recognised shortage of qualified marine engineers across the industry, we're serious about developing the next generation of talent. That's why we're committed to supporting the right candidates through their AMSA Engineer Class 3 NC Certificate of Competency at the Australian Maritime College (AMC), as well as providing practical sea time, mentorship from experienced engineers, and guidance throughout the certification process.
- Structured Training Program: Participants will be employed by Programmed as the legal employer and hosted to Svitzer Australia. The program offers a clear pathway to achieving the AMSA Engineer Class 3 CoC qualification, ensuring participants are well prepared for a successful career in the maritime industry including as Tug Engineer at Svitzer Australia.
- AMSA Engineer Class 3: The program includes a fully funded 13-week training block delivered at the Australian Maritime College (AMC) in Launceston, Tasmania - a world-class maritime training facility. All course fees, flights and accommodation are covered. Successful applicants must be willing to attend training at the AMC in Launceston, commencing 20 April 2026.
- Hands-On Experience: Participants will gain practical sea time and guidance from experienced marine engineers, applying their skills in a real-world setting and completing the sea service required for certification.

- MED 1 Certificate of Competency.
