About the Saltwater Pathways Program
Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships in conjunction with the Barossa Aboriginal Future Fund (BAFF) are thrilled to offer multiple exciting and paid career pathway opportunities.
The Saltwater Pathways Program aims to support the BAFF’s purpose, to contribute positively to the NT Aboriginal coastal communities, with a geographical connection to Santos’ Barossa Operations.
Successful candidates will undertake a traineeship leading to a nationally accredited Certificate II–IV qualification while gaining practical workplace experience. Participants will develop the technical skills, industry knowledge and workplace capabilities required to pursue long-term careers in the energy industry.
We welcome applications from all First Nations people from Darwin/Daly/Wagait, Tiwi Islands, West Arnhem, East Arnhem and the Victoria River Districts.

Our region
Barossa Operations are located off the Northern Territory coast, with onshore facilities at Darwin LNG on Darwin Harbour.
Our artwork
The Saltwater Pathways Program artwork was created by Kalyca Dionisiou (Cubillo).
This artwork tells the story of the Barossa Gas Field through Country — a meeting of energy, water, and connection beneath the sea.
The six circles represent the six wells of the Barossa field, each one a source of energy deep within the ocean, marked by their steady rhythm like the heartbeat of the sea. The flowing lines through the centre are the new pipeline, carrying life and connection — a pathway joining these wells together and leading toward the existing Bayu-Undan pipeline.
Where the lines twist and meet, it shows collaboration — the joining of new and old, innovation grounded in continuity. The surrounding dots symbolise the ocean currents and marine ecosystems that envelop the project, reminding us that everything operates in balance — technology, nature, and people.
Altogether, the piece speaks of movement and connection — a story of energy flowing across the sea, linking the Barossa field with the wider network that sustains the Northern Territory and beyond.
